The Minimun for a Subscriber was 130/- + GST for the Free Channels and the other channels will be paid on their view, The new tariff scheme — aimed at dismantling ‘bundling’ of junk channels — was supposed to kick out useless channels from cable and DTH networks, freeing up space for the launch of more creative channels by smaller players and increasing quality of content.

This New Scheme will reduce the ‘junk’ channels with more lucrative and popular channels using packs and bundles. While TRAI’s intention was for all channels to be priced at comparable levels, the High Court judgement has resulted in some channels being priced very high and others being priced very low. A look at the tariffs announced by the companies so far shows many channels that are priced at Rs 1 or even less per month, while lucrative and popular channels have been priced at a Maximum of Rs 19 per month each, and must not exceed the amount.
